US Navy 7m RHIB with 19.5” Thrustor® installed on Konrad 520-40 Stern Drive Powered by 210/20 Cummins Diesel Engine.

Installed in June 2008

US Navy Proof & Status… The Marine Industry has long believed that wrapping anything around a propeller hinders performance.    However, after three years of open-sea operations with their small fleet, the US Navy (HM14) group, in Norfolk, VA, has proven that the Thrustor® actually  enhances performance, maneuverability, hard high-speed turns, stability, safety, visibility over the bow, fast response on start up (hole shot), speed in turbulent water, cavitation vibration and habitability…without any objectionable downside.    One Navy regular operation requires pulling 17,000 pound anti-mine sleds. With the 19.5” Thrustor® installed on the 7m RHIBs they have achieved a dramatic 200%+ increase in towing speed and have increased the vessels’ planing speeds from 27 to 30 kts up to 31 to 33 kts.

The reports and information gathered indicate conclusively the value and practicality of the Multi-Nozzle Venturi System, proving that it benefits and enhances the performance and maneuverability of the vessel, while offering propeller protection and product durability.

Results demonstrated a 230% increase in over-ground speed and increased the towing vessel pulling power to over 1800 rpm, thus allowing the turbo to kick in. This has never happened before!
